Team Oliver Racing enjoyed a thrilling and busy weekend at Donington Park, taking part in two championships – Round 4 of the British Truck Racing Championship with our three regular drivers Stuart Oliver, Michael Oliver, and Martin Gibson, and the International Truck Prix with our two guest drivers John McGuinness MBE and Steve Thomas. It was a packed timetable, non-stop action, and a huge challenge for the team – keeping five race trucks prepped and competitive across two sets of qualifying sessions and nine races.

British Truck Racing Championship

Saturday - Qualifying, Race 1 & 2

In Race One, Michael made the most of pole, controlling the pace from lights to flag to take the win and our first trophy of the weekend. Martin fought hard for P4, while Stuart carved his way through the field to an impressive P5.

Race Two brought plenty of action – Michael again led the early laps and crossed the line second, but a post-race penalty dropped him to P4. Martin battled in the thick of the pack to take P5, and Stuart recovered to P9 after contact and a spin.

Sunday – Races 3, 4 & 5

Race Three’s reverse grid saw the three Team Oliver Racing trucks running nose-to-tail in a perfect formation mid-race, before Stuart powered ahead to finish P4, Michael took P5, and Martin came home P8 after a gravel excursion.

In Race Four, Michael delivered a strong drive to claim P2, while Martin and Stuart were never far apart, finishing P4and P5 respectively in a hard-fought scrap.

The final race of the weekend, Race Five, saw Michael blast into the lead almost immediately and never look back – taking a dominant win by nearly seven seconds. Stuart held his own in the midfield to take P5, while Martin’s early lead slipped away after an off-track moment, eventually finishing P8.

International Truck Prix

Saturday – Qualifying, Races 1 & 2

In Qualifying our guest drivers also hit the ground running – John McGuinness MBE qualified P7 and Steve Thomas P10.

In Race One, John charged through the field and benefitted from race incidents to take P3 and a trip to the podium! Steve drove a clean and controlled race to secure P7.

Race Two was tougher – John retired after contact and a trip through the gravel, while Steve once again showed consistency to take P7.

Sunday – Races 3 & 4

Race Three saw John’s bad luck continue with a mechanical issue forcing an early retirement, while Steve claimed P9 after a steady drive.

In the final race of the weekend, Race Four, John’s race ended early once again due to mechanical problems, but Steve rounded off his weekend with a solid P6 finish.
