Top Gear goes Trucking !
It was trucks that took centre stage on Sunday night’s Top Gear (June 19) with all three presenters taking part in a British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) round in a HGV special!
Presenters Chris Harris, Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness all passed their HGV driving tests before driving across the UK in new DAF, Mercedes and Scania pulling units to Pembrey Race Circuit, where McGuinness then competed in one of the Team Oliver Race Trucks accompanied by race teams from both divisions of the championship.
Top Gear remains one of the BBC’s flagship entertainment programmes and, according to The Guardian, is watched by over 350 million people in more than 200 countries.
The episode was put together with the assistance of Team Oliver principle, Stuart Oliver.
Stuart said: “ This was a fantastic project to be involved with a great team of people helping put this together. Top Gear did a great job raising awareness about the trucking industry and showcasing how exciting and challenging the British Truck Racing Championship really is. We hope Paddy enjoyed his time behind the wheel of our race truck and that you all enjoy the show! “
